Chilled. That’s how Emma Hookings described wedding planning and her big day. It all went off without a hitch – pardon the pun – at Celtic Royal Hotel.

So what was Emma’s secret to a relaxed, enjoyable, memorable wedding day?

Plan, plan and plan a bit more

Like most couples, the first arguments – no, considerations – were about dates and venues. This usually takes a bit of juggling to find the time and place you want. “We looked around a number of venues,” Emma said. “We liked Celtic Royal because of that fabulous staircase and especially the fact that everything takes place in one room, so you don’t have people breaking up into groups.

“We had a couple of meetings with Sian Owen, our wedding planner, to talk about food and accommodation and all the other details. Sian was brilliant. She just took the stress out of everything. I was so chilled, probably the most chilled bride ever!”

Celtic Royal’s packages make planning and pricing your special day easier. For example, the Silver Package includes a three-course breakfast for 30 guests, complimentary room hire, evening finger buffet and complimentary bridal suite for the night with Welsh breakfast the following morning. All for less than £1,000.

The big day

The day itself all went to plan. “You want to enjoy it and be with your family and friends, not fussing over details,” Emma said. “And we never had to. It was all taken care of.”

You’re free to organise your own details, should you wish. Emma chose to manage the cake, favours and table placenames. The hotel took care of everything else.

Even when a coeliac disease sufferer realised they couldn’t eat from the menu, a waiter soon appeared with a tray-full of specially prepared sandwiches.

“The ceremony, dinner, evening reception all took place in the same room, which really helped pull everyone together. Everything went to plan. Even when we changed the order of the speeches, Sian had everything sorted in minutes.”

The couple were also able to have some special wedding photos taken at the waterside on Caernarfon quay. The location is ideal for a memorable day. Photography by Dewi Wyn.

“I mingled with friends and it was the perfect, stress-free day,” Emma added.

I stayed at the hotel with my husband and 2 children 8 and 10. The room was comfortable, large and spotless, the communal spaces in the hotel had character and charm and the breakfast was excellent. The staff were friendly and efficient and the swimming pool a real added bonus. The proximity to the town was a wonderful bonus - 5 minutes walk to the castle and main square. Yes the decor in the room is a little dated, but this hotel represents fantastic value for money. There is so much to do in the area, it's a great base to climb Snowdon and visit the Zip World centres. We didn't have time to visit the Welsh Mountain Zoo or do the Railway - two nights in the area just wasn't enough. we can't wait to go again!
